A few years ago I was an Air Force ROTC instructor and Commandant of Cadets at Detachment 592, UNC Charlotte. I was even more fortunate to be the instructor for the seniors, so our curriculum was geared towards the final preparation of these young men and women to be officers. One of the very first lessons dealt with the nature of military, and what it meant to be an officer. One of the more unusual facts we hammered home was something you never heard on recruiting commercials, or even in the countless debates over the current wars. So pay close attention class.
