Veteran’s Day in Kabul

I was invited to write a short piece to provide some thoughts on Veteran’s Day from Afghanistan. I’ve been in the Air Force for almost 18 years, but am currently doing work more suited to soldiers. I’m 5 months into a one-year tour here in Kabul, Afghanistan, and we work daily with the Afghan Army transportation unit. It is unusual for Air Force personnel to be on the ground, wearing body armor and carrying weapons. "
