4GW AND THE KURDISH CAUSE

"There have been reports in the last few days of Turkish F-16's bombing South Kurdistan, while, Iran continues to use artillery against unarmed Kurdish civilians in South Kurdistan. All of this is allegedly an attempt to knock out the PKK. Unfortunately for these two Islamist states, air power and artillery never managed to hold terrain; the only thing that can hold terrain is infantry.

From the Draft Manual on 4GW War:"

Not me the Guy at Rasti, I wish I could remember how to spell his name with looking it up, is calling Turkey and Iran Islamist.

I'm you host here at This Fucking War madtom. Just in case your new here, what I do is aggregate blogs and news from the war, so much or what see are blogs from other people. Follow the link at the bottom there "Rasti" to visit that blog. If I were to add some wise commentary of my own to the post I usually do it below the link..

I think that like many things depends on you point of view. Mizgin (I looked it up) is a Kurd from the area, who know better than me what it's like for Kurds under Turkish rule. Let me tell you from much of what I have read it don't sound very pretty. Even under the microscope of EU treaty negotiations the Turks have yet to grant Kurds equal treatment. You know those Kurds are so seditious they want to preserve a language and culture, how dare they.

So I will continue to read and post the great blog Rasti.

If you have a blog which offers a different perspective, fell free to recommend the link and I will certainly consider adding it to the roster.

It is absolutely true that the kurds have been and still are brutally opressed by the turks, and not only by them, but it is stupid to call turkey an islamist (or fascist) state. When I read "Rasti" I have the impression of reading a kurdish version of uruknet.info. I really appreciate your eagerness and ability to bring together those different perspectives on those different conflicts, and because I do I really think you should drop "Rasti" (though I can´t offer you any alternatives). By which, of course, I don´t want to imply that you should neglect the kurds, the kurdish cause in general (blog-wise at least).

uruknet.info.?

don't know what to say, I don't get that impression. There is no doubt Rasti is a partisan site, PKK, J-PAC all the rest, but there is so much more going on there. I see a great place to learn insights into the issues that interest Kurds. Mizgin seem fairly open minded and regularly has cross party discussions with the Iraqi Kurdish parties. And the best part is that you get real people, not party lines.

At the moment I see no other alternative, Rasti is the only game in town. If he's hard on the Turks I see it as a reflection of how the Turks treat Kurds.

The Turks could try modifying their own behavior. And one way to put pressure on them to do just that is to make sure that it's well publicized and documented so they can't hide behind the veil of ignorance.

I am sure that there are voices on the other side that criticize Rasti for it's moderation, many may feel that the only way to pressure the Turks is thru violence and that Rasti is just a waste of time. Which side would you like to see succeed?
