NYT: Police Hugely Responsibility for Chaos in Iraq
American daily, the New York Times reported that the police teams, which are harmful and are linked to influential political groups in Iraq, are hugely responsibility for bringing the country to the blink of civil war.
According to the New York Times, the Bush administration ignored the US Justice Department’s plan foreseeing the dispatch of 6,600 civilian Americans to Iraq for the establishment and settlement of the police force.
The US Defense Department, Pentagon, and the White House also ignore the crucial role that the US will play in the training of Iraqi police force. Although the Justice Ministry decreased this figure to 1,500 later on, this decision was not welcomed. Only 50 advisors were eventually sent to Iraq for a period of eight months after its occupation.
