The photos America doesn't want seen

MORE photographs have been leaked of Iraqi citizens tortured by US soldiers at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison on the outskirts of Baghdad.

Tonight the SBS Dateline program plans to broadcast about 60 previously unpublished photographs that the US Government has been fighting to keep secret in a court case with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Although a US judge last year granted the union access to the photographs following a freedom-of-information request, the US Administration has appealed against the decision on the grounds their release would fuel anti-American sentiment.

Some of the photos are similar to those published in 2004, others are different. They include photographs of six corpses, although the circumstances of their deaths are not clear. There are also pictures of what appear to be burns and wounds from shotgun pellets.

The executive producer of Dateline, Mike Carey, said he was showing the pictures leaked to his program because it was important people understood what had happened at Abu Ghraib.

Seven US guards were jailed following publication of the first batch of Abu Ghraib photographs in April 2004.

Mr Carey said he could not explain why the photographs had not yet been published, as he thought it was likely that some journalists had them.

"It think it's strange, maybe they think its more of the same."

■ The Daily Telegraph, London reports: A British soldier who is believed to have filmed fellow troops assaulting Iraqi civilians has been arrested, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday. The ministry had not confirmed whether he was being questioned as a witness or a suspect.

I don't know how about naked Iraqi hanging upside down. Is that a normal way to spend your day? What propose did that serve? Did the intelligence officers order such as was claimed in the whistleblower hearings yesterday, did command know exactly what was being done, as they testified last night an just like your favorite she general, what's her name, said? Who lied? do you think we have the right to know what's done in our name? and what benefit was achieved using these tactics? did they gain any usable information? were they after information, or just out for a joy ride? What was achieved, was the insurgency defeated using these tactics, or was it fueled. And don't tell me it was fueled by the release of the pictures to the American public, as the Iraqis were there saw with there own eyes, and did not read about it in the US media.

Very few? thousands of people have gone through the system, people from all walks of life from the lowest scum to the average joe, all thrown together in overcrowded poorly controlled prison system. The argument that they would have made it up anyway is stupid, I'll try to explain why. let say the usual suspects are going around telling the usual stories, INFIDELS, ZIONIST, bla bla bla. Some people will believe it just as you say, but other's will not they will question they will have reservations, but then here comes the local school teacher, a nice respected guy, everybody likes and trust, you happen to overhear a whispered conversation he's having sitting in the back of the coffee shop...infidels, zionist. all of a sudden it starts to sink in, it leaves you with some doubt, but your still not convinced, not yet, but next week your invited to a wedding and there sitting in the corner you see the old local wise man, you know, that old guy that knows the answers to all of life tough questions and he's got a crowd sitting around him, you figure he's telling one of his stories so you pull up a chair and listen in, guess what he's talking about? he telling everyone about what happened to him and his 16 year old grandson, how they were pick up in a sweep, how they were treated, abused....Infidels, and Zionist he says.
Now what do you believe?

This has nothing to do with politics Will, this has to do with right and wrong. Ask your mother if any of that on those pictures is right or wrong, ask yourself.
I know the answers. It's wrong and it's against US law and It's against the treaties that we have signed our good name too. you avoided all my other questions in this respond. Maybe you did not see them and I'll have to ask them again.
