Iraq's Kurds want Saddam to suffer as they did

"SULAIMANIYA (Reuters) By Alister Bull - Saddam Hussein hid a torture chamber in the heart of this Kurdish city in northern Iraq, and some locals want their former president to die like its victims -- hung high from a meat hook.

"Whatever he did to the people, he should get the same. And I want to watch," said Hundar Garib, a 14-year-old Kurd who says his uncle and cousin were murdered by Saddam's agents.

The former interrogation centre in Sulaimaniya is now a memorial to Kurds persecuted under Saddam, who is standing trial in Baghdad accused of crimes against humanity.

Manacles used to shackle prisoners are still fixed to the walls and the farewell messages of prisoners, scratched in their cells before their deaths, are still visible."
