Police arrest Mead woman for stealing pain pump from Iraq vet

A woman accused of stealing a pain medication drip machine from an unconscious Iraq war veteran in Denver was arrested by Weld County Sheriff’s deputies at her home in Mead on Friday night.

Linda Coulimore, 59, gave herself up to deputies after she saw her own photo and identification on Denver television Friday night. She told deputies she’d been out of town for a couple of days, and she turned herself in to police when she learned they were looking for her.

“She called the Denver police from her home in Mead,” said Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez. “Denver contacted our office and our deputies arrested her without incident.”

Martinez said Coulimore was arrested about 11:15 p.m. Friday and booked into the Weld County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. On Saturday she was released on $25,000 bond.

The charges are out of Denver, and not Weld County, so Coulimore will have to appear in a Denver court to face the charges.

Denver police said the war veteran was in the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center because of war injuries. His name and condition could not be released because of privacy laws.

The device was taken when the soldier was unconscious, about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. The patient was not in danger, hospital officials told the Rocky Mountain News. The patient notified the hospital staff that the pain pump had been removed, the News reported.

Police and hospital officials told the News the pump contained a strong narcotic that should be administered only under a doctor’s orders.

Stations KUSA-TV and KDVR-TV reported Coulimore formerly worked for Longmont Police and had a history of injuries requiring pain medication.

On the morning the pump was stolen, surveillance cameras in the hospital recorded the woman leaving the hospital. Denver police then identified the woman as Coulimore.

Messages on Coulimore’s home phone in Mead were not returned.
