Winter Doldrums
"It is four o'clock in the afternoon and I just had to force myself out of a deep sleep. After only four nights of working the graveyard shift, my schedule is fully flipped. Now, however, I get two days to reset back to the day schedule, so I'm trying to take it seriously.
Once my schedule is back on track, I should be all set to sit around with nothing to do. The winter weather, and a glut of pilots has conspired to make the perfect storm of inactivity. Washington is sending over another entire Combat Aviation Brigade to supplement the fight, but I'm wondering if there is enough business to go around. There are some areas where aviation assets are used more than others, but up here it sucks. I feel like I'm stuck in traffic and every time I switch over to the faster moving lane, it stops and the previous one goes ahead without me. I'm afraid that after spending a year away from home, the only professional development I will have gained is the ability to make kneeboard packets in record time."
