Brown offers British naval help to monitor Gaza
LONDON: Britain's prime minister says British naval resources could be used to help prevent arms smuggling into Gaza as part of an arrangement to end the fighting.
Gordon Brown says France and Germany are also offering similar help.
He spoke with reporters Saturday as the Israeli Cabinet was nearing a vote on whether to declare a unilateral cease-fire in the battle with Hamas-led militants in Gaza.
Hamas says it would not accept the cease-fire because it would leave Israeli soldiers in their territory.
No agreement to end the fighting has yet been reached. The fighting has killed more than 1,100 Palestinians and 13 Israelis.
Israel launched its offensive on Dec. 27 to stop rocket fire into its territory.
