"Surprisingly enough, I didn't smoke while writing this.

So I'm at the MWR center debating on editing my last post to include more softcore pornography when I stumble upon a post at http://www.soldiersperspective.us . The post was regarding a change in holiday policy at the Shelbyville Tennessee Tyson Foods processing plant. Apparently, this plant has a number of Muslim workers who would like the day off for Eid.

Guys, I got news for you. America will always be a Christian nation. And thank goodness, or else my father's toy factory would probably go out of business...

I have to give you a little bit of background on this. First off, I am a PSG in a Guard unit that is training up for Iraq. Secondly, I blog about the experience at: http://big-tobacco.blogspot.com .

If you take a look at the blog, you'll see why I have a unique perspective on the Tyson Article: I'm Jewish. One of two in my Infantry company and one of about ten in my battalion.

I know a little bit of what it is like to be a minority, sort of like the Somali employees at Tyson. Quick typical story: last Friday, I wanted to go to Shabbat services. My lieutenant denied this request because he insisted that all of our motor assets were engaged or down for maintenance. This was a lie and I know this because I am the HQ PSG and I control the vehicles. In hindsight, I should told the LT to go fuck himself (I have done this before), grabbed a couple of privates and took my gun truck to services."
