I probably don’t get involved in the house operations of our combat outpost as much as I should – CPT Whiteback keeps telling me a good officer understands the grander scheme of things at all times, and I do make half-hearted attempts at such, but I tend to become a bit scatterbrained when too much math or too much paperwork is involved. Not to mention there’s always something more interesting going on with the Gravediggers. So when I walked outside of our outpost last week, eager for a breath of noxiously-fresh Iraq air and mulling over the latest batch of Lindsay Lohan photos, I was surprised to find Sunni-and –Shi’a-induced pandemonium on our steps when I should’ve expected it. Such is life. Shock is the opiate of the dreamer."
