Si o No?
Here in Miami we are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the results of the constitutional referendum in Venezuela. And as you might already know there is nothing coming out of the official election office.
They were supposed to give an update on the tally once 59% of the results were known. But as of this hour there is nothing. There are a few pictures of the national guard surrounding the electoral building, and there is a unevenness around the silence.
The question here is: is Chavez changing the vote?
No one know what's going on.
The unofficial word on the street is that the No vote has a 14% margin. But who knows if that is true.
For us Cubans this vote is a big deal as it would move Venezuela to the communist column. We Cubans which know first hand just what it means to live under a communist one party rule are hoping that the people of Venezuela hold strong and reject this referendum.
Update:
With 90% of the ballots counted
The No votes are ahead by 5 %
These results are unofficial
Update
Tensions are rising. Opposition leaders have been coming to the microphones to ask the CNE to please break the silence and give a report. There is tension in the air.
What is Chavez up to. And for some reason there are storm troopers deployed allover the place.
Update
well something is happening. The NG has moved all the reporters away from the CNE building an there may be an official report soon
Update
The CNE is making an official announcement...
Asking for calm...
and the NO has it Chavez for life is defeated!!
