We Now Resume Our Regular Irregular Broadcasting Schedule
"Ok, I've been bad. I went on leave, and had a grand old time, but when I came back I failed to get back on the blogging horse and get a move on again.
Mea culpa.
First the good news: As of yesterday I am now a Sergeant, E-5 type. No more Joe details, power to smoke kids, etc. As I am now Leadership, I've been put in charge of the night shift 2200-0800, to allow the LT to move back to days. Nights are not bad. Thanks to Al-Sadr's stand-down order to the Jaiysh al-Mahdi and the onset of winter's chill, activity at night has dropped off to almost nothing. We do our raids at night, so every so often I have to run the UAV and aerostat camera feeds so we can watch the missions, but that's not too hard. And some of the time we even catch the bad guys. We got one a day or two ago that higher wanted transferred to their hands so fast he was barely in the gate when they sent a chopper to collect him. I had to take him to the helipad myself, which was a mildly interesting break from the routine."
