The troop surge IS working...
"So I've heard a little bit on the news and seen online about the recent analysis of the Iraqi government and their failing to meet 11 of the 18 benchmarks that were set for them. I'm not up to date on what these benchmarks are so I wont comment about what I think about that, because I dont know if I would feel the benchmarks were realistically obtainable with the given situation or not. One thing I can comment on based on my experiences here lately is that the Presidents troop surge which went in to full effect in late June I believe, combined with the new strategies that are in place with rooting out Al Qaeda and whatnot, are in fact working!"Even if it's true, it's still sad that it took 3 years for the leadership to see what was so obvious to the rest of us.
On the Lose in Iraq
Of course there is also a comedic side to this. The right is now trying to take credit for sending in the Calvary, for a good long laugh, just tune in too Rush... Sometimes I don't know if I should just yell at the radio, or take it down from the shelf and smash it into a million pieces.
Talking about Rush, If you haven't already heard it, Listen to the new parody song wehatetheusa.
It just goes to show that the man is a genius, an evil cock sucking genius, but one none the less.
I'm going to post this song on the side as this blogs official anthem

Same old MT. Do you really think that the conditions in Iraq today are the same as they were 3 years ago and are you really so sure that a 'surge' at that time would have met the same success? The Sunnis had to be made to understand they faced defeat unless they signed on to some of the desires of US interests, and it took three years and AQ to get them to that point. That has always been my position---Iraqis have to undergo a given amount of chaos and suffering to make them understand that their cultural and societal mindset doomed them to failure, and the mistake was in try drawing out the time frame by cushioning that blow. War should be fought like war and, or not at all. If the goal is not to utterly destroy the enemy's will to fight, then don't engage in a fight with your enemy.
I cringe when I hear 'our fight is not with the Iranian people, it is with their government'..... better to be blunt with Iranians as we should have been with Iraqis. 'Clean your house or we will be forced to do it for you and will have no mercy while doing it', is a much more humane tactic in the long run. But once you have said that, you better follow through or you will find yourself saying it over and over.
I could say the same about you.. I did read to the bottom though, but now I can say this openly here. I am sure the surge would have worked 3 years ago because I am sure Ambar hated Iran the same three years ago, and I am sure today that the only american desire that they have signed on to is the fact that we finally told them that given space, we were ready to take the Iranians on now. We could have done that three years ago, we could have done that at any time and seen the same results. the only reason to wait till now was the belief that we could milk some politics points out of the war here at home. the only thing that has change is that the cow dried up, and like tell myself I had a little to do with that.
