Protestor Prosecuted for Incitement

BBC News
November 3, 2006

A man protesting against the Danish Muhammad cartoons called for the beheading of Islam's enemies and the death of UK soldiers, a court heard. Mizanur Rahman, 23, a web designer of Palmers Green, north London, denies inciting murder and using words or behaviour to stir up race hate.

He addressed the protest in London on February 3 on the issue of UK troops. Prosecutors said Mr Rahman had told the crowd: "We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad." David Perry QC said Mr Rahman had carried placards saying "behead those who insult Islam" and "annihilate those who insult Islam".

He said: "Annihilate and behead are ordinary English words with the ordinary English meaning of kill." Mr Rahman also called for a wave of attacks across Europe in the manner of 11 September, Mr Perry said. A video of his megaphone-amplified speech would be played to the Old Bailey jury.

'Not about Allah'
He allegedly told fellow demonstrators: "Oh Allah, we want to see another 9/11 in Iraq... in Denmark... in Spain... in France... all over Europe. Oh Allah, destroy all of them."

And Mr Perry said Mr Rahman had also spoken of the British and American forces in Iraq, saying: "The Mujahideen will destroy them and their freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan, in Falluja and in Baghdad. "We don't want to see them in Baghdad, in Iraq any more. We want to see them coming home in body bags, we want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad, we want to see their blood running in Fallujah.

"We want to see the Mujahideen shoot down their planes the way we shoot down birds, we want to see their tanks burn in the way we burn their flags."

The prosecution emphasised that freedom of speech did not stretch to inciting the murder of religious opponents. Mr Perry said: "This case is not a trial of Islam. This case is not about Allah or the Prophet Muhammad."

The case continues.

Will, I have had a hectic week, I have not seen half the stories out there. I'll go look now and see what's got your panties in a whirl

That article isn't nearly as interesting as the website's sponsors are.

Jon, what else would you expect from WND, I don't ant to hurt Will's delicate feelings, but that is a right wing rag if ever there was one.

Wrong, I found at least 6 other news outlets that covered the trip including "reuters" and with less Kerry baiting in the presentation, I was going to post the links, but I never did, I have been so busy, and tired I just have not had the energy to spare.

What is so significant about a bunch of mommies and daddies getting an armored tour of Iraq? Are they on an aid mission? Are they just going over there to satisfy their own morbid curiosity? Nah, they were probably just members of the booster club when Johnny was in high school and have war mixed up in their heads with football like most Americans do. Grief does weird things to people.

I'd say it was an idiotic move, but I know the green machine will keep them safe. I thought that someone's mom getting kidnapped for a video would be a propaganda coup for both the terrorists and the Republican party.

All in all, I don't much care about parents visiting Iraq. It's a minor event. We could have thought of a better way to spend that tax money though.

I also noticed that at least one of these parents is STILL... sheesh... STILL under the illusion that Saddam bombed the WTC on 9/11 too.

Fucking ridiculous.

Mike Anderson: We cannot find security by turning a blind eye or thinking that "if we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone."

In fact, Iraq has never done anything to the US. He says this because in the run-up to the war, the current administration kept talking about terrorism in the same breath as the war on Iraq.

Joseph Williams: America has carried the torch for freedom, fighting for individual liberties against communism, fascism, totalitarianism and now once more against terrorism.

This is another one. He's under the illusion that his son was sacrificed to get revenge for 9/11.

It's not that I can't read. It's that you don't comprehend.

The Impact of Bush Linking 9/11 and Iraq

They don't need to say it outright. With the knowledge that Bush and friends inferred a connection between Iraq and 9/11, a logical person can deduce from their statements that they believe that we are in Iraq because of 9/11.

What they don't realize and what Bush hasn't bothered to tell everyone is that he made an error in judgement in suggesting that Iraq was involved in 9/11 and that our adventure in Iraq has nothing at all to do with terrorism.

Act as obtuse as you like. We both know that you understand exactly what I am talking about.

Will, you stole my line I was going to say something almost just like that.

I find it hard to understand how people don't see how Iraq and 911 are connected? OBL and saddam both had one thing in common, US troops out of SA. Both saddam and OBL wanted to bring down the Saudi royal family and both wanted control of the oil. One way to get the US out of SA was to redirect our attention towards Afghanistan. I think they were hoping that the US would pull all it's assets out of SA and put them into Afghanistan, which would allow both saddam and OBL more room to maneuver and put a great deal of pressure on the Saudis

I noticed it, too. I think it was due to the exposure it got here on your blog, don't you?

I'm sure that's what did it. The MSM was just going to ignore the story, but once it appeared here, they knew they had no chance of sweeping it under the carpet and rushed to publish the story to try and remain relevant in today's news cycle. :)
