The Dead
"The saddest development in the debate over Iraq is surely the appropriation of slaughtered civilians for political point making. This has been going on for a long time, of course, but it reached a nadir with the publication of new estimates in the British medical journal, The Lancet.
That study, conducted by U.S. and Iraqi public health researchers, estimates that 665,000 civilians have died in Iraq since the 2003 U.S. invasion, a figure that translates into the staggering figure of 15,000 violent deaths every month."
