Canadians Fight 10 Foot Marijuana Plants In Afghanistan

Canadian troops in Afghanistan have come face to face with a new enemy that has proven to be a more than formidable foe. The troops have discovered a forest of 10 foot tall marijuana plants that were planted by the Taliban which they are now using for cover which proves to be very problematic for troops. The plants absorb heat very quickly making thermal devices almost useless. Troops have tried to counter the forest by burning it down but that has proven almost impossible as the plants are just so full of water that they will not keep a flame going. “We tried burning them with white phosphorous — it didn’t work. We tried burning them with diesel — it didn’t work. The plants are so full of water right now … that we simply couldn’t burn them,” said General Rick Hillier, chief of the Canadian defense staff. “A couple of brown plants on the edges of some of those [forests] did catch on fire. But a section of soldiers that was downwind from that had some ill effects and decided that was probably not the right course of action.”
