Hey, Ted: Still Think We're Losing?

"As y'all have probably been following, I've been discussing the War in Iraq with a new reader, Ted.

Ted seems to think that President Bush's plan isn't working, and the best thing we can do is the Democrat's "plan", and pull our Soldiers out of Iraq.

Not that I agree with pulling out, I do not, but Bush's fighting insurgency with military might, aka "stay the course" is a proven loser.

Case in point Peru. They tried military might, they tried rounding up people and throwing them in jail, they tried the kill all young males, they tried it all and in the end what worked was a 77 man intelligence team that used "police work" to find and neutralize the threat. Something the "right wing" is specifically against.

The other case in point was Northern Ireland, which followed a similar history of trying to fight an insurgency with military might, but in the end it was good police work to separate the fringe element, and political solutions that broke the dead lock and has apparently brought peace back to the emerald isle.

Anyway Bush is only fighting the war to win the elections, not the war IMO.
