Bush's Unannounced Visit to Baghdad

"I was very busy yesterday, so I couldn't comment on the surprise visit by President Bush to Iraq. Here are my observations:

The media said Iraqi prime minister Al-Maliki was given five-minutes notice before meeting the president. The first thought in my mind when I saw him shake hands with President Bush was, "What if he was at the toilet at the time? Did he have the time to wash his hands before he ran to meet the President?""

Someone woke up a bit snarky today, this war will do that to you.

Hi Fay,

My Comment on this post, I couldn't get in.

I have to take some issue with your characterization. The Iraq PM Al-Maliki had more than just five minuets. He had been invited to meet with Bush over the teleconferencing TV. And so he was in the embassy with that in mind, what he found out once he arrived was that Bush would be there in person, not on the TV. You know I'm not a fan of Bush, and I agree with your conclusion at the end, I don't think there is any arguing with that. But your characterization makes it sound as if PM Al-Maliki had no idea whatsoever that he would be meeting with bush that day, when someone came knocking of the "bathroom" door, Hurry up Bush wants to see you.

You do get an b- on Snark.
