Sobriety While Deployed

"Sobriety while deployed isn’t just a matter of abstinence. The very same character defects that we suffer from while back home are with us here and possibly (I say possibly) might be more glaring while living under the pressure of being deployed.

It isn’t just a matter of distance from alcohol either. As anyone who has been here knows, ETOH is readily available in small markets. There is even alcohol sold in discreet containers known as duty free liquor, smuggled in from Europe. Cough syrup that contains alcohol is sold at the PX and hashish is sold on the street."
