"The women behind the counter informs me that a passenger hasn’t reported in and I can have his seat if he doesn’t show up in the next few minutes. They call his name out loud several times over an announcement system.

As the aircraft readies to leave and I get set to board, the passenger shows up.

After an initial dismay, I ask where the next flight will leave. After thanking the woman I turn and leave. I find a phone and call my wife. I instruct her to not begin to make the hour and a half drive to pick my up."
