SHIA DEATH SQUADS TARGET IRAQI GAYS -- U.S. Indifferent

"Following a death-to-gays fatwa issued last October by Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani (left), death squads of the Badr Corps have been systematically targeting gay Iraqis for persecution and execution, gay Iraqis say. But when they ask for help and protection from U.S. occupying authorities in the “Green Zone,” gay Iraqis are met with indifference and derision."

Thanks for the info. Eventually I'm going to do a post on the Ayatollah Scarecrow, as Ladybird calls him.

And keep up the good work and thanks for your contribution to the Blogosphere.

Call me insensitive--but if you saw people being killed for any one of a number of arbitrary reasons, not the least of which is the fact that one may be American, and a guy presents himself to an American soldier as a special potential target deserving of extraordinary protection because of his sense of style, if you didn't see the dark humor in that you are way to serious of a person to be taken seriously. I take it up the ass so give me asylum? Iraq would quickly become one big YMCA. The camels would mourn in their newfound solitude. Really, Iraq has a looooooooong way to go before they get to the gay marriage debate. When such things become truly important, we will know we have won....I guess.

Thanks MG

So Will your telling me that if an Iraqi comes up to the MNF and tells them that he's been targeted by the militias for execution they should not do anything?
Nothing at all, not even offer him/her a ride out of town, or start some investigation, maybe try to catch or neutralize the perpetrators, or anything like that.

Well Will maybe if the MNF was more proactive there would not be everyone targeting everyone. Once you allow someone to be a target you have allowed everyone to be a target. I posted this because I see it as another clue to the ever spiraling out of control that is Iraq. And of course because it jives with the position I took over at Healing Iraq, when Zeyad posted about Sistani's kill all the gays fatwa. I told Zeyad that "red staters" would not respond to his post, that instead of discrediting Shi'a he was in fact doing the opposite as this group hate gay and would just love to implement the same thing here back at home. And what would you know the next thing I see is a story on just that, Americans helping to kill gays. Unfortunately for the gay's I know that most republicans are rooting for the militias, and are probably keeping a score card.
