I'm leaving this post at the top to torture Republicans
Dear Friend,
As you may know, there is something very wrong in Washington, DC these days. Political corruption scandals are distracting our government from tending to the business of the people. The real challenges we face at home and abroad are not getting the attention needed to prepare us for the future.
Federal deficits are up, job cuts are being announced too often and the prospect for success in Iraq seems to be slipping further away, rather than getting closer to a reality. Healthcare costs are driving businesses offshore and nuclear threats to our national security are growing instead of diminishing. It is up to we citizens to take control of our government and turn things around before it's too late.
That's why I am writing you today. There is a new political movement afoot and I am proud to be a part of it. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) PAC has launched, with great anticipation and enthusiasm throughout the political world. This group is started for combat veterans by combat veterans and is the start of a political movement to empower the people who pay the price for bad decisions in Washington. Specifically, the PAC's unique mission is to promote veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan wars who are running for Congress this year. I am proud to say that I have joined with IAVA PAC as the head of their Advisory Board.
I am very excited to welcome Paul Hackett and former Senator Bob Kerrey to the Board.
Support our troops. Send them to Congress. Please donate now!
I am asking you to join that mission -- sending Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the halls of Congress, as lawmakers. Like the majority of the country, you may feel frustrated with the way in which the one-party leadership in Washington has handled the war since its outset, and feel the situation is only getting worse. The launch of IAVA PAC brings the promise of real change, because the candidates we will be supporting have innovative solutions for war issues that can only come with combat experience in the current conflicts.
This type of fundamental change does not come cheap. Funds are needed to help these campaigns get their message to the voters. Please take the time to visit the website and donate now to help our cause -- your contribution will make a difference!
Your investment in IAVA PAC will go towards funding a wide array of activities. IAVA PAC will provide support and training for candidates and their campaigns, give them an immediate influx of money, and help them reach every voter. We will be running high impact television ads that tout these candidates, and take those to task who dared take action that was anti-Troop or anti-Veteran.
Throughout the history of the United States, America's most courageous and competent leaders have been Veterans. From George Washington to Andrew Jackson to Dwight Eisenhower to John Kennedy, our boldest leaders came from the military ranks. Just as Veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam have served in government, so too will the Veterans of the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. IAVA PAC exists to help guarantee that.
Please sign up with IAVA PAC and consider making a donation today.
Support the Troops. Send them to Congress!
Warm Regards,
Wes Clark

madtom,
Hey, did you catch the scene on TV at the baseball game where the protestor held up a an anti-Castro sign? Heh heh. It was LIVE and beamed right into Cuba. I can just imagine the generalissimo's ire.
LOVE IT!

Damn!! I missed it, I was busy and only saw a few minuets of the game. This is the first I hear of it. I did hear some commentary as I walked past a TV that the players looked week and little, that they looked under nourished, everyone was rooting against them and hoping they would lose and have to go back and face the consequences that await them. I don't even know if they lost of won.
madtom,
It gets better than that. One of the Cuban coaches ran into the stands and confronted the person holding the sign and the Puerto Rican police took the CUBAN COACH to the police station and had to explain that they had FREEDOM OF SPEECH in PR!!!
Heh heh.
It doesn't get any better than that, does it?

madtom,
Here's an article from ESPN on the incident.

Thanks Jeffrey I posted the story, it was interesting that story included a link to an anti castro blog, quite extraordinary.
You aren't torturing Republicans, you're giving them a good laugh. They know the difference between truth and truthiness
Hey Long Ranger,
Welcome to my blog. Don't worry most of those "republicans" that come around here are fiends, and it's sort of an inside joke. but really truthiness, that's like a new word for spin right, well I'm sure they know the difference it's just you couldn't tell from the stuff they write of actually believe to be true.
