Penn accuses Bush amid rescue chaos

"The US government was accused of "criminal negligence" as hopes of finding survivors faded and the death toll from Hurricane Katrina continued to rise.

Holidaymakers returning to the UK spoke of the scale of the misery while one said leering police officers demanded young women flash their breasts in return for help."

What surprised me the most was the absence of congressmen and house reps all last week. Other than Frist, I haven't heard of anyone breaking his/her holiday to help with the relief efforts. We didn't even hear from McCain.

I guess the poor people of N.O. were less important than Terri Schiavo. It makes me sad and angry.
