Hamas leader in Turkey on surprise mission
ISTANBUL, June 22 (KUNA) -- Chief of the politburo of the Islamic Palestinian movement, Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, has arrived in Turkey on a hitherto-unannounced mission, the Turkish television station, NTV, announced on Wednesday.
The NTV said his presence in the country coincided with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's visit to Turkey to hold talks with senior officials on current Palestinian issues.
Hamas has recently mended fences with the other mainstream Palestinian movement, Fatah, of president Abbas, following bitter feuds.
Turkey has shown greater interest in regional affairs, namely the Palestinian cause.
