This is how they work, not surprising really. But I still don't know what's in a kit, besides paint, which was my first guess anyway,

Well, this is disgusting to me. If I read this correctly, the US is providing money to refurbish mosques.
A) Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? That apparently only applies to non Muslim endeavors.
B) These same mosques will eventually serve as shelter/staging areas for the Taliban attacking American troops.
C) I'm still angry that the US did so little to protect Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities, while they were doling out millions to fix mosques in Iraq.
D) This winning hearts and minds strategy won't work any ways. Alexander the Great did it best: Rubble no trouble. As effective today as it was thousands of years ago.
Separation only applies to the US, this is more like foreign aid.
As to the winning of hearts and mind, think feet and bellies.
People all over the world want mostly the same things, the basics will do. Remember that the lives of these people revolve around the Mosque, capturing it is a strategic move, not a religious one.
Read your constitution carefully, many things are legal as military necessity.
A minority want to be left alone to rise and fall on their own innate talents and character. Most want to be cared for. The former used to be the distinguishing characteristic of American's and attracted like minded individuals from all over the world. That's history at this point and the later are now setting the agenda and have built a debtor's prison in which we now serve though work release or in which we lie and accept crumbs from our warden. All we are doing is stalling for time so we can destroy ourselves rather than let others do it. We're just fighting over who will be the warden.
