Brookings Institution Panel on the Afghanistan Election

Early results in Afghanistan's election gives current Pres. Hamid Karzai a small lead, some media outlets are reporting. But with only 10% of the vote counted, the U.S. and U.N. are urging Afghanis to wait for the final results, to be announced in September. A Brookings Institution panel examined the election, weighing the impact of the results on the U.S.-NATO mission in Afghanistan.
