"So I feel the need to weigh in on the Janet Napolitano/DHS report thing. I don't usually comment on political crap because I usually don't give a shit but this is a comment that really cooks my grits. When we got on the plane, gas was $5 a gallon, we were going to a combat zone and we weren't sure when we'd get body armor. After a year of combat, we return and the economy is in the shits with most of the guys not having jobs to return to with little to no money in the bank because we went on a 3 month streak where no one got paid, especially bonuses, because the state ran out of money. They are out of money again and the second half of enlistment bonuses are on hold. My personal backpay total, second half of bonus included has just passed the $15,000 mark as all my drill pay this year so far has gone towards my bogus bonus debt. I'm paying our of my own pocket to go to drill every month. Over 10,000 vets might have HIV or Hepatitis because of improperly sanitized endoscopy equipment at 3 VA facilities. 6 years ago, Congress(wo)men were riding around in jets and corporate execs were busying building the foundations of the bailout while dudes in Iraq were welding scrap metal on their trucks and shoving barbell plates in their vests. Maybe if this shit wasn't so poorly ran, we wouldn't have a reason to be disgruntled."
