UPDATE 1-Boeing set for potential $3 bln US airlifter deal
WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Boeing Co (BA.N) will receive a U.S. Air Force contract valued at up to $3 billion for 15 C-17 military cargo aircraft, the U.S. Defense Department said Friday.
Congress approved $3.6 billion for the acquisition of the 15 planes as part of a fiscal 2008 supplemental defense spending bill funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The funding will extend the C-17 production line until August 2010, Boeing has said.
