Can I ask a question? Why do we need to give the banks money from the TARP Program, why is it that the government doesn't just deposit the money in the backs?

That way the federal government would be just another customer, not a new partner. And they would not need any special permission, of force the banks to take the loans, all they need to do is open an account.

And we would not be giving the money away, the government could always open checking accounts and make withdrawals as necessary.
