Iraq boy says British soldiers beat him
LONDON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- An Iraqi youth has accused British soldiers of beating and kicking him during an interrogation before pretending to cut his throat, officials say.
Lawyers for Bariq Abdul-Razzaq, who was 12 when the 2006 event allegedly occurred, prepared a case to be presented to the High Court, the Independent reported.
Bariq said he was one of several youths taking part in a Basra demonstration when they were herded into a courtyard and beaten and kicked for an hour. He said soldiers handcuffed him, forced him to kneel and indicated they were going to execute him.
He said he was so badly injured that when he was eventually released six hours later he had to be carried home.
Bariq says his experience left him badly traumatized and unable to continue his education.
