Financial Crisis Grounds Brit-Icelandic Jet Swap

"Iceland, a NATO member, has a tiny coast guard and national police force, but no standing army — and certainly no air force. So air defense of the tiny, but wealthy, island nation falls to other NATO members, who offer up fighter squadrons on a rotating basis. Many of the pictures of Western jets intercepting Russian bombers were shot by pilots flying out of Keflavik, Iceland."
