"What do you really need to go to war today? I’m not talking about any kind of spiritual or economic validity, I’m talking about training and equipment. How is this deployment different from my last deployment? How is Iraq of 2008 different from 2006 or even 2004?

I thought about this after I got an email from a deploying National Guard soldier who asked me about what he really needs in terms of equipment and training.
