Obama: the candidate of perpetual change
"Barack Obama is showing us how he is truly the candidate of change with his ever-um-developing positions on important issues. On Wednesday, he told an AIPAC audience that "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."
But now he says, "Well, obviously, it's going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues. And Jerusalem will be part of those negotiations." This switch came after he was criticized for his lack of knowledge, and for excluding the Palestinians.
Of course, his plasticity might eventually lead him to drop his speedy withdrawal-from-Iraq idea, and to perform the "pivot" that everyone has been awaiting. You know, to sound more knowledgeable, more centrist, more reasonable, more leaderly, more .... like McCain.
But Obama repeatedly predicted that the surge would fail, and voted against it. If and when he deals with the surge's success, he'll have to address his earlier superior judgment. I'd certainly like to hear some more from him on the prospect of genocide in Iraq, which he said would not be a good enough reason for continued military involvement. Anyway, it'll sure be big of the rookie senator if he decides to allow the U.S. military to continue one of the most impressive reversals in modern history, a reversal that he currently seems to know nothing about."
