Jordan, Iraq agree to establish business council
AMMAN, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Jordan signed a cooperation protocol with Iraq on Wednesday to establish a Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council, said Jordan Chamber of Commerce.
The protocol is aimed at developing relations between the two countries' institutions and private sector as well as boosting joint cooperation and trade exchange, said the chamber of commerce.
Jordanian officials highlighted the importance of enhancing trade exchange between Jordan and Iraq, expressing the Jordanian chamber's readiness to boost cooperation and solve any problem that might hinder the development of bilateral relations.
The agreement was signed by Jordan of Commerce, Jordan Chamber of Industry and Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Jordan's exports to Iraq last year stood at around 526.8 million U.S. dollars, while imports from the eastern neighbor amounted to 12.2 million dollars, according to local daily The Jordan Times.
