Remembering Spring 2003, From the Iraqi Side of Battle
This post is by an Iraqi employee of The New York Times based in Diyala whose name is being withheld for his safety. It was written in Arabic and translated by his colleagues in the Baghdad Bureau.
I still have many memories of what happened in the spring of 2003.
I had just graduated from the business management department of Qadisiya University, and according to the rules and regulations, I was required to join a training unit and serve in the army for 18 months.
But because I was a college graduate, as with thousands of others before me, things were rushed through and the training was finished ahead of time.
Baghdad Bureau
Damn, the same thing happened to us.
