Iraq has released the globally-anticipated list of 35 international companies to be allowed to search for petroleum and natural gas. TPAO (Turkish Petroleum Corporation) and its subsidiary company TPIC were not included in the list, resulting in a wave of shock in Ankara.

The Iraqi government and the ministry of petroleum have announced the 35 international companies designated to explore for petroleum and natural gas in Iraq. Turkish Petroleum Corporation was not included on the list released and Iraq has supposedly completed the process of selecting the companies to be allowed to explore for oil and natural gas. The Iraqi government accepted applications up until January 31st and has now released the list of 35 companies to receive permission. General Manager of TPAO (Turkish Petroleum Corporation), Mehmet Uysal, said: "we applied but we were not selected."
