Iraq-Mares: The Awakening

"So, I'm taking from my good friend Suspect on this, I think the best way to solve a problem like Iraq-Mares and sleepless nights is to talk about them, get them out of your system in a somewhat constructive manner, so...here we go:

Iraq-Mare #1 - Mother of the Bone Relived

The sweat drips from my brow as I clamber over the ditch, and then cautiously walk across the dirt path. I visually clear the immediate area and hastily plop down in the shade of the grove, I unsnap my chin strap and glance around at the rest of my platoon. My friends faces all look relieved at the long awaited break, but the fear and and anger resides underneath the surface; only a few hours prior our medic had stepped on a crush wire and was medevaced, and that was only a few hundred meters from where we now sit. People are drinking water, some relive the medevac to others who had been else where clearing, some joke just to push the memory out of their mind for the time being...as paranoid as we are we don't see it, we can't see it, and we don't expect it.

Boom"
