The fake American in an Egypt check point

"Road check points are one of the things that really make you hate this country. Our corrupt police set these check points to do only two things: harass poor helpless people or extract money from whomever is unfortunate enough to become one of their victims.
Taxi cars and taxi minibuses on the highway constitute the majority of our check points victims. Taxi drivers are poor and they have no connections and thus they’re easy preys to a group of police officers who want to arrest anyone just to show that they are doing some work. Private cars are not usually stopped but sometimes the police do stop young drivers who are suspected of carrying hash. The dude will either get arrested, pay a large sum of money to be released, or give the hash to the police officers who smoke it when their duty is over."
