Bomb Kills Anti-Syrian Lawmaker
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - A bomb killed an anti-Syrian lawmaker and four other people Wednesday in a Christian suburb east of the Lebanese capital, security officials said.
The blast targeted Antoine Ghanem, 64, a member of the right-wing Christian Phalange Party, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
The Voice of Lebanon radio station, which is owned by the Phalange party, also confirmed Ghanem's death. The identities of the others killed were not immediately known.

The cause of the explosion in the Sin el-Fil district was not immediately known.
Security officials could not immediately confirm the casualties, which were reported by broadcaster LBC.
Television video showed severe damage in nearby buildings and several cars on fire. The blast sent a cloud of gray smoke over the area.
The area houses the home of former President Amin Gemayeh, whose son, Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel, was shot and killed in November 2006.
Lebanon has been rocked by a series of mysterious bombings in recent years, many of them targeting anti-Syrian figures. In June, a blast killed lawmaker Walid Eido.
