Teen Who Made Surprise Iraq Trip Pops Up In Afghanistan

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (AP) -- Farris Hassan has done it again.

The Fort Lauderdale teen made a surprise trip to Iraq in 2005 -- without telling his parents. Now he's in Afghanistan, and his mother says she didn't OK the trip.

She didn't know her 17-year-old son was going anywhere until he called from the plane just before it left Miami International Airport three weeks ago.

Farris says he's in Afghanistan to study the progress of women's rights and the plight of impoverished street children.

The teen is expected home tomorrow.
