New Web site to help Iraq vets find jobs

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon has created a new Web site to help veterans who face difficulty returning to their old jobs or finding new ones after deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The program is dubbed TurboTAP.

Some veterans have complained about difficulty finding new jobs or returning to their old ones after repeated or extended tours in Iraq.

Deputy Undersecretary of Defense Michael Dominguez says the aim is to provide a one-stop site for returning National Guardsmen and Reserve members to obtain job information, build a resume and conduct job searches.

Veterans will also be able to create a customized transition plan from military to civilian life.

Wednesday's announcement comes as several government panels review ways to improve veterans care, cut red tape and reduce backlogs for veterans seeking disability benefits.
