Rolling Victory Fast

"Today is my scheduled Rolling Victory Fast. Since it's Super Bowl Sunday, I actually started last late yesterday so that by the time the pre-game rolls around, I would have devoted my 24 hours. I would like to devote my fast today to my WWII grandfather. In addition to my father, he is another motivation for why I joined the military.

My grandfather served in WWII as a nose gunner in a B-24. I remember reading his journal as a young child between Atari games of Pac-Man and Bomber. This memory is the sole reason I decided to keep a journal of my experiences during combat. I wanted my grandchildren to get the same joy out of reading about my experiences as I did reading about his. One day he showed me some of his medals and I was completely in awe. I was always impressed that he was able to come home based on his journals and all the close calls he had. The flak in the air was tremendous."
