Message from a Newbee...

"I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all the friends & families of the 1016th QM CO & FRG. I am one of eight soldiers that were called up in December of 2006 to help fill needed positions within the 1016TH QM CO. We left our home state of Washington on December 3rd, arriving into Ft. Bliss Texas. Our SRP process went very quick & we flew through it in 3 hours. For the next 4 days at Ft. Bliss Tx. we were trained up on everything required to prepare us for Iraq & the present situations that would help us in country. It seemed like in the blink of an eye on December 7th we were on a plane in route to Kuwait, arriving late on the 9th of December. In country, we fine tuned some of our Iraqi training and finally met up with your loved ones in Tallil on Sunday the 18th of December. That night I remember like yesterday, in the middle of a down pour with mud & water half way up our boots, I could remember thinking "we are in a desert?" For us the nervousness, & the antisipation of the unknown, or the simple need to visualize what we were about to call home sweet home for as long as we were needed, finally came to an end. I was lucky enough right off & met one of my co-workers, sweet Sgt. Amber Sully & the company welcome party at the airport when we arrived. So just fifteen days prior, we were Soccer mom's & dad's trying to scramble & finish our Christmas shopping early... college students in the middle of a semester, or trying to explain to our civilian jobs the three "W's", why when & where are you going with such short notice?? For some of us it was really difficult deploying right before Christmas, but others were used to it, & we all love our freedom. To all the FRG members & friends & family of the 1016th, you really touched our hearts and helped make us feel at home. We were welcomed with Christmas cards, beautiful presents under the Christmas tree, & even care packages just in case in all the craziness there were items & supplies .."

I am not sure what happened, but this blog is giving me a 404. Even though I am still getting post from the reader, which I have copied and pasted here. I don't want to say Big Brother strikes again, but it sure does have that kind of smell... wait and see I guess, maybe it's just a server error.
