Saddam’s Execution: Bad Timing

" am not sure if people in the West noticed this but there was outrage across the Arab Sunni world over the timing of Saddam execution. The sentence was carried out during the first day of the Muslim holy feast Eid el Adha (feast of the sacrifice) and many Muslims, especially Sunnis who don't really share the Shias utter hatred of Saddam, were repulsed.
I just had to post this quote from the Big Pharaoh
"Well, I won't answer this question because whomever asks such a question proves that he/she didn't fathom the fact that logic simply does not exist in the Middle East. It is simply not here. This is why I really enjoy injecting logic and reality in whomever I speak to be it a friend or a work colleague. I watch their bewilderment, I see their eyes getting wide, I love watching them reacting to something they have never been exposed to."

The only thing that I would add to that quote, is that it has nothing to do with Arabs, or the ME, but everything to do with closed societies and dictatorships. You can find the same attitude from newly arrived Cubans here in Miami. it takes a while before you realize just how much of everything you have ever been told is not true, or how deeply these impressions reverberate throughout your entire thought process. Sometimes it takes a life time to overcome, time most people do not have.
