A Poorly Planned Murder

"4 Jan 07

Wali and Hamid were telling us about the Afghan judicial system, as well as investigative techniques of the police. It is best illustrated by this story. A married woman in Kabul was having an affair. She and her lover decided to murder the husband. The lover would break into the house, pretending to be a thief, and kill the husband. But, Wali pointed out, he made a big mistake. He didn’t steal anything! So the police were suspicious and started questioning the neighbors. Several had seen this guy sneaking around the house in the past, and the police were able to track him down and take him in for questioning.

“Wait,” I interrupted. “Did anyone actually see him on the night of the murder?”"
