Realism vs. Righteousness

"The smartest observation to appear in an American newspaper in the last week was this one: "The disconnect between the debate over the Middle East in Washington and actual events in the region could hardly be greater." That is exactly right, and the fact that it appeared in the lead editorial in Saturday's Washington Post is a welcome marvel. Editorialists in other leading American papers – especially in the rival New York Times – have lately been disgracing themselves with demands that, when unwrapped, would allow the thugs in Tehran and Damascus to shape the Middle East according to their dreadful agendas."
