Iraqis "Don't Have an Exit Strategy."

"“Our options as Iraqis are that we don't have an exit strategy or any withdrawal timetable,” Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi told reporters during a recent stop in Washington. “We simply go on. . . ." Making the new Iraq work "is a process," he said, "and brick by brick we are working on it.”

One of the journalists who spoke to Abdul Mahdi was WaPo's Jackson Diehl, who has often used his column in support of Middle East democratization efforts. On Monday, he used it to provide Abdul Mahdi a platform."
