6,599 Civilian Deaths In Iraq During July & August

In the latest report from the UN, 6,599 civilian deaths were reported to have occurred in Iraq during the months of July and August with 5,106 of those deaths occurring in Baghdad alone. This new figure is a brand new record in a stream of ever increasing numbers of deaths in the region causing much doubt in the international community about the ability of the US and Iraq to restore peace in the area. One report has stated that torture of civilians is at a level that is either equal or greater than the torture rates when Saddam Husain was in power of the country.
