An Iraqi "Ode" to Arab Nationalism

"Not long ago a friend e-mailed me a remarkable TV clip. The footage is from an Al Jazeera call-in show called The Opposite Direcrtion, and features a phone call from an Iraqi poet who condemns the news service -- in verse -- as a retrograde force
in the Arab world. Indeed, the poet -- one Ahmad Ismail, whom I otherwise know nothing about -- addresses Al Jazeera generally as the blowhard mouthpiece of destructive Arab nationalism that is reflexively anti-U.S., and specifically as an obstacle to Iraqi peace and freedom."
